Earth Day April 22 2018

Earth Day, Earth MattersEarth Matters, Earth Day Shirt

Are you ready for Earth Day! On Earth Day April 22 2018, many communities have special events.  Learn more about Zero Waste, Recycling, and living a bit more green. Here is a site with more info on Zero Waste.  I am not there yet, but baby steps….baby steps….   https://www.goingzerowaste.com/

Thistle Hill Botanicals is proud to say that in the years that we have been shipping out orders we have only bought packing materials twice!  Most of the time we reuse packing we are gifted from local businesses.  When we deliver orders to stores in our region in person we do not use boxes!  We have colorful buckets purchased 10 years ago at a farm store that we use to make our deliveries!  We are always looking for ways to have a smaller footprint.

Here are the links to our “sister stores” with more T Shirts!  http://amzn.to/2Fuec1W

and here is one more: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheWhiteCatShoppe

If you have any “Green” Ideas to share, feel free to do so on our Facebook page.  I will start a post and there will be room for comments.  I would really LOVE to hear your ideas!

There are more Earth Day choices (Including our Exclusive Eco-Warrior T)  and a few options that just might make you smile.

Thank you for being part of Thistle Hill Botanicals Journey.

Happy Earth Day

Be Kind To Cows – Our Eclectic and Whimsical Side is peering out!

Hi Everyone,

Thistle Hill Botanicals is ALIVE and well! We are in more stores and our clients are ordering more of our products all of the time.  I LOVE making natural products and offering them to people who appreciate them. So I will now explain the title: Be Kind to Cows

There is an artistic side of me that has been quelled for a while.  I used to be into photography in a huge way.  My photog has simmered on the back burner long enough! I am now finding different ways to express this side and ways to share it with you.

Here is an example of what I am talking about: http://amzn.to/2tsCNyC

Here at Thistle Hill Botanicals our shop is on the border of a 120 acre pasture.  I Often get to take walks with the “girls” in the pasture.  They are curious and gentle.  We enjoy our time together.  So if you like cows, if you are a vegan or vegetarian, or just animal lover, please check out the link and share it with your like minded friends.

Thistlehillbotanicals.com adds NEW https Security

thistlehillbotanicals.com secure

What is HTTPS, and why should you care?

This might be more technical than you (or I) can understand, but I feel it is important. Operating a business and producing your own products can be difficult.  I have learned to delegate important tasks like website security to people that are experts in their field.  That is why I hire an amazing woman to manage the “techie” part of my website.  I have faith in her and you can too! Thank you Jean 🙂

Our website https://thistlehillbotanicals.com    has a new streamlined look, it also has enhanced encryption now.

HTTP stands for hypertext transfer protocol. It’s a protocol that allows communication between different systems. Most commonly, it is used for transferring data from a web server to a browser to view web pages.

The problem is that HTTP (note: no “s” on the end) data is not encrypted, and it can be intercepted by third parties to gather data being passed between the two systems.

This can be addressed by using a secure version called HTTPS, where the “S” stands for secure.

This involves the use of an SSL certificate — “SSL” stands for secure sockets layer — which creates a secure encrypted connection between the web server and the web browser.

Without HTTPS, any data passed is insecure. This is especially important for sites where sensitive data is passed across the connection, such as e-commerce sites that accept online card payments, or login areas that require users to enter their credentials.

Save the Tatas! Eliminate XenoEstrogens

Save the Tatas! Eliminate XenoEstrogens

Long before XenoEstrogens were a known thing, my grandmother Bessie had to deal with cancer. After having a radical and horribly done mastectomy she died years later from bone cancer. So, Save the Tatas! Eliminate XenoEstrogens.

Getting the chemicals OUT of your daily routine is SO important! Most mass market deodorants have dangerous XenoEstrogens. Save the Tatas! Eliminate XenoEstrogens. ESPECIALLY when you are applying those chemicals under your arms where your lymph nodes work so hard. All of the products that you apply to your skin, actually go IN to your body.

Thistle Hill Botanicals can help. We have created a Natural and VERY Effective Natural Deodorant that is a GREAT value. A 2 ounce container of Finally! Natural Deodorant that Works will last one person 3-5 months, making our product not only ALL natural and effective but a GREAT value! Customers have begged us not to ever stop making our deodorant. Some customers have told us they use it every 48 hours. Every body is different.

We now offer our natural and effective deodorant in three all natural scents: Light Citrus, Organic Lavender, and Ancient Spice. We are currently also developing a NEW formula for extra sensitive skin. Our deodorant is safe for use with Chemotherapy patients (we have been told this by a few patients).

If you have young children or teens starting to use deodorant please start them early with natural products. Our chemical loads in our bodies builds up year after year. In the past what we did not know could hurt us, but we know better now! This is a great item to share with those you love, our Finally! Natural Deodorant that Works makes a wonderful little stocking stuffer. So Save the Tatas! Eliminate XenoEstrogens. Share with your friends and family.

All of our products are made with love in Floyd, Virginia USA in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Thank you to The Jacksonville Center for the Arts!

Here in Floyd in the lovely Blue Ridge Mountains we are so very lucky to have a wonderful art center.

http://www.jacksonvillecenter.org   The Jax as us locals call it, in cooperation with The Economic Development Authority has built a state of the art photo lab for local artisans and producers to use!   So you will notice we are upgrading our photos a few at a time here at Thistle Hill Botanicals.

So Thank you to the JAX and the EDA of Floyd County Virginia!

Our NEW space!

The Floyd Innovation Center is where it will all happen!   In a few weeks we will be there working on our inventory and making our popular and effective products for our customers!

The building is part solar, has fabulous hi speed internet and is SUPER energy efficient!  It is in perfect alignment with what we believe in.  We will not have a retail store, however our products are available in many local stores (see list on homepage)

Thank you to our customers for the faith that they have placed in us.  We LOVE being part of your life and helping you to use more wholesome and toxic free products everyday!

The Beeswax and Vegan Controversy

I have been doing a lot of research on beeswax.  Some consider it not vegan and some do. Here is the scoop:  According to Peta many large bee farms treat their Queens inhumanely and take honey away when the bees desperately need it to survive the winter months.
Beeswax is a byproduct of the bees, they are not killed for their beeswax.  There are alternatives, however the most desired ones are made from palm trees.  So I have made an executive decision that here at Thistle Hill Botanicals we would rather use a totally natural and sustainable product rather than contribute to the destruction of the rainforests which is where palm oils and waxes mostly originate from.

Our beeswax comes from a small apiary that educates other beekeepers in the region on proper and sustainable beekeeping.  Our beeswax comes from happy bees that are well cared for and treated with respect.  Beeswax is used in small amounts in some not all of our products.  Let us know if you have any questions.
